Fun Fun Fun Fest: Clap Your Hands Take Singing Lessons

84_clapyourhands_l030106Ok, so that’s not really their name, but as you can see, we feel that their front man Alec Ounsworth should really think about taking singing lessons. Yeah we know, we sound like d-bags because of this but here is the thing. Back in 2006 they were playing a show at The Bowery in New York and we were so excited to see them since their self-titled debut was the soundtrack to our life in the city. With our Ipod ear buds constantly blaring their tunes. our expectations were of the highest of heights. That was until our friend Jeff told us that we should avoid seeing them play live at all costs. We headed to the venue and at the first lyric to come out of his mouth we realized that we had made a mistake. It seemed that we were the only people in that entire place that couldn’t help but laugh at his singing. To be fair, a lot of these people pulled out the cell phone and lighter vigil so that says something about the crowds that were paying $100+ for the tickets off of craigslist. Anyway, after that day, we could not listen to their albums in the exact same way. It will forever be tainted with the memory of that horrible horrible show, in which we actually left before it was even over. Now it has been several years, maybe they’ve worked on their live shows…

With that being said, we have already ruined our image of them so we are going to be in the front row if at all possible. We will be leaving the lighters at home though.
